The outer universe
is not pure black.

It wavers—
ambiguous,
dim,
constantly shifting.

When the outside of life feels unclear,
there is often a quieter, deeper now
glowing softly
inside the chest.

This piece was painted
from my own experience
of the strangeness of now.

It isn’t flashy.
It isn’t conventionally beautiful.

But for those who are drawn
to the depth hidden behind
“What is this?”—

this is a universe of now.
